PRIVATE SALES :
There will be no private sales on the grounds before or after the auction. All mules brought to the sale must be consigned and go through our auction ring.
CATALOGUE :
Consignment and registration period begins January 1, 2008 with consignments being accepted on a first-come first-serve basis with a maximum of 100 mules. Carlton's Montrose Mule Days reserves the right of refusal on any mule not meeting the Select Saddle Mule Auction standards of quality. All mules entered must-have photo, consignment sheet, and fees paid to be accepted.
PAPERWORK AND HEALTH TESTS :
All mules must have a Coggins test current within six months before the date of sale. All out-of-state mules must have current health papers to enter the Montrose County Fairgrounds. ABSOLUTELY NO EXCEPTIONS. The Colorado Branding Inspector requires all mules to have traveling/hauling papers. If a mule is not sold the papers will be returned to the owner. Veterinarian will be on site.
NOTE: If the mule you’re selling was purchased by you then you must have a Bill of Sale. If your state has brand Inspections you must have Branding Papers.
FEES - for registration and consignment: There will be a cataloging fee of $100.00 per head for each catalog consignment. This fee will be nonrefundable after March 1, 2008. Stalls will be provided for consigned mules. There will be a $75.00 no sale charge on all mules in addition to the catalog fee. The owners of mules that are rejected by the buyer because they are misrepresented in the ring will be charged 8% commission. Carlton's Montrose Mule Days will check these animals and will make the final determination on whether there was a misrepresentation of the facts. All mules will be charged a five-dollar brand inspection fee by Colorado state law.
GUARANTEE :
The seller shall guarantee Each Mule sound. If the mule is not considered sound, the buyer has 24 hours from time of sale to have Carlton's Montrose Mule Days and its veterinarian inspect the mule. Carlton's Montrose Mule Days and its veterinarian will make the determination as to the soundness of the mule. If the mule is considered unsound, the buyer will have his purchase price less fees returned. The seller of an unsound mule will be expected to give a complete refund for the mule and will be responsible for any fees in conjunction with the sale. The buyers or buyer will be responsible to pick his/her mule up the day of sale or a daily stall fee will be due. Each consignor is totally responsible for any other guarantees they make on their animals. The guarantees of each animal will be made only from the auction block while the animal is being sold. There are no guarantees or warranties express or implied by Carlton's Montrose Mule Days or by the auctioneer or ring men. If you do not agree with these rules of consignment please do not consign your mule to our sale.
SALE OF A MULE :
The buyer of any mule shall be responsible for the mule from the time it is sold in the auction ring and will be responsible for proper feed and care. Buyers will be charged an 8% buyers premium on any mule bought at the auction to be paid at the sales office.
CHECK-IN :
All mules must be checked in by 12:00 PM on Friday, June 6, 2008. Office for check-in will be open Thursday and Friday.
LOADING OUT :
All buyers must have a release or paid receipt from the office for all load outs. Trucker and load-out man must sign load-out slips. A Colorado branding inspector will be on site on the day of sale. All mules must be removed from the Fairgrounds on day of sale or make other arrangements with Carlton's Montrose Mule Days.
LIABILITY :
Buyers, sellers and spectators are cautioned to exercise care while attending the sale and enter the premises at their own risk. Carlton's Montrose Mule Days and Auction shall not be liable for injuries occurring to anyone attending Montrose Mule Days and Auction as well as the Rodeo. Their parents MUST accompany children under 12 years of age.
